What We Shoot
At TenPoint, we build crossbows because we’re passionate hunters. It’s a passion that drives us to design, engineer, build, and service the best crossbows in the world. Simply put, the people building your crossbow are the same people dreaming of the first cold front of the year to sweep through.
If you’re looking for the ideal crossbow or hunting accessories, start with our employees and their product picks.
Please choose from the options below to see what our employees are using when they head out to the field!
Crossbow
Flatline 460 – I prefer a compact, fast crossbow. The reverse-draw of the Flatline gives this bow incredible speed, and the compact size allows me to sling this bow and easily pack in my climber or hang-on stand. I jump around from spot to spot, and I am seldom in the same tree more than twice in a season, so maneuverability is a huge factor for me. The ability to de-cock the crossbow safely is great, it is so much more convenient to let my crossbow down after the hunt as opposed to having to shoot it.
Arrow
EVO-X CenterPunch 16 arrow – I am a HUGE FAN of a 16” arrow. I was surprised by the difference in size between a quiver full of 16” arrows vs. 20” arrows. The 16” arrow is noticeably more compact, which lends itself to both the Flatline and my hunting style. Is a short 16” arrow accurate? Yes, I can destroy arrows at 60-yards.
Scope
EVO-X Marksman Elite – Rangefinding scopes are great, and incredibly accurate, however I have always been a fan of KISS (Keep it Simple Stupid), and the EVO-X Marksman Elite scope provides the brightness, clarity and simplicity I want.
Broadhead
EVO-X CenterPunch – Everyone has their preference when it comes to broadheads. When it comes to crossbows that have energy to spare, I prefer a mechanical due to the large holes (wound channels LOL) and the accuracy they provide. I shoot the CenterPunch broadhead because it’s the only head we have found that does not experience premature blade opening on bows shooting the speed that my Flatline shoots.
Hunting Method
I hunt from a tree. I am either in a Lone Wolf hang on, Lone Wolf Climber or Tethrd saddle. I have always been a very “mobile” hunter. Prior to moving to Ohio, I used a climber for 95% of my hunting. Since Ohio has fewer straight trees, I hang and hunt with either a Lone Wolf Stand or a Tethrd Saddle. I seldom hunt the same tree twice, as I want to keep the deer guessing😊
Safety Harness
Muddy – I really like the built in Bino Harness
Rangefinder
Leupold RX1200 – it’s very clear and very bright.
Binoculars
Bushnell Legend 10×42 – I like to verify what I might be shooting is shooter or non-shooter.
Boots
Early season Dryshod Knee High. Late season Kenetrek with Arctic Shield and anything else I can do to keep the feet from freezing.
One item I can’t live without
My Binoculars. I would rather leave my camo or rangefinder at home, but my binoculars allow me to see what is going on at a distance, which has ultimately led to “the next successful move”. If it’s late season, I have a Sitka Neck Gaiter that is a HUGE difference maker in extending my time on the stand.
Crossbow
Titan M1 – Because it’s fast enough, very narrow, and insanely accurate while still being cost-effective.
Arrow
EVO-X CenterPunch – They are a great weight and are very accurate.
Scope
Vortex Crossfire II – I enjoy the clarity of Vortex scopes along with the lifetime warranty.
Broadhead
EVO-X CenterPunch – They’re the most accurate and have proven very efficient at bringing down an animal with a well-placed shot.
Hunting Method
Treestand – This is the single greatest innovation the hunter has ever come up with. It allows you to be above eye-level of the animal and in a place where they don’t normally look for predators.
Safety Harness
Hunter Safety Systems – I’ve never had to use it for its intended purpose, but I feel very confident and comfortable in these harnesses.
Rangefinder
Vortex rangefinders – They’re clear, accurate, and have a lifetime warranty.
Binoculars
I don’t use binoculars. – I hunt in southeast Ohio, the valleys aren’t long enough to need any.
Boots
Wolverine boots – Comfy, waterproof, warm, cost-effective.
One item I can’t live without
Cameras – It’s like pre-season affirmation that you picked a decent hunting spot, so you don’t have to be worried about it.
Crossbow
Turbo S1 – Its lightweight, compact, and covers all of my needs from treestands to blinds.
Arrow
EVO-X CenterPunch – The perfect hunting weight and strength for my crossbow.
Scope
EVO-X Marksman Elite – It has amazing light gathering capability and a speed dial to match my equipment’s speed.
Broadhead
Rage Trypan Crossbow 100-grain – A big cut, 2-blade = big holes!
Hunting Method
Ladder stand at a field edge – Quick, quiet in and out for early season sits.
Safety Harness
Hunter Safety Systems – Comfortable and easy to put on.
Rangefinder
Vortex Ranger – Lifetime warranty, accurate, and illuminated display.
Binoculars
Nikon Pro Staff 7 10×42 – Crystal clear with plenty of light gathering and power to see what’s coming.
Boots
Lacrosse Alpha Agility – Comfortable and not too bulky to get around.
One item I can’t live without
My backpack. I don’t care if I am hunting for 2-hours or all day, I must have it with me. I pack everything I could possibly need.
Crossbow
TenPoint Viper 430 – I prefer a forward draw crossbow; it just feels natural to me since I’ve been shooting that style since the early 1990’s. The width of the bow being a mere 6 ½-inches when cocked is a huge plus in tight places, especially in blinds, and the ACUslide is a huge benefit since I can let the crossbow down after the hunt instead of carrying a target with me.
Arrow
EVO-X CenterPunch arrow – I’m a fan of a heavier arrow for more kinetic energy vs. a higher speed. This is also one of the most durable carbon shafts I’ve shot.
Scope
RangeMaster 100 – it is one of the clearest scopes I’ve ever used and is very user friendly. The infinite red/green rheostat allows me to get the perfect brightness.
Broadhead
Lately I’ve been using the EVO-X CenterPunch broadheads for their large entrance & exit holes and because they do not open prematurely.
Hunting Method
Mostly ground blinds but occasionally I will get into either a ladderstand or climber – For a ground blind I like a Blind Turtle hard-sided blind. My preference on a ladder stand is the two-man stand from Family Traditions and my climber of choice is a Summit Goliath.
Safety Harness
Hunter Safety System Vest – I feel comfortable in this vest and I have confidence that it will do what I need it to do if there’s ever an accident.
Rangefinder
Nikon Archer’s Choice Laser Rangefinder – It’s worked well for me over the last several years.
Binoculars
Nikon Pro Staff 7 10×42 – Very clear and easy to use.
Boots
Dryshod Big Bobbys, both low and high – They fit and they’re comfortable! I’ve had them for a few years now & never had a leak or an issue with them.
One item I can’t live without
HECS Hunting Clothing – I believe in their technology! If I can have multiple bucks directly in front of me between 10- and 20-yards for an hour, something must be working. I also had a turkey walk behind & beside me at 5-yards and gobble, while I sat up against a tree without him knowing I was there.
Crossbow
Havoc RS440. I like how compact it is and we share it throughout my family. With the centered balance point it works extremely well mounted into a tripod allowing my kids to hunt and shoot. They are 7- and 4-yrs old.
Arrow
EVO-X CenterPunch 16 – It was designed for the smaller more compact crossbow platform.
Scope
EVO-X Marksman Elite – It’s the premier crossbow scope on the market, nothing better to consider.
Broadhead
SWAT XMAG CPX mechanical broadhead – The best performing broadhead I have tested.
Hunting Method
All types – Hang-on stands, climber, tree saddle, ground blinds, and elevated box blinds.
Safety Harness
Hunter’s Safety System – I have two, one to hunt with and one to hang stands with.
Rangefinder
Leupold RX – 1600I TBR – This extends across all forms of hunting for me and offers a light-up display for low light.
Binoculars
Vortex Crossfire HD 10 X 50 – Quality binoculars at a decent price.
Boots
Lacrosse Alphaburly Pro – I’ve used many brands of rubber boots over the years and Lacrosse holds up the best for me.
One item I can’t live without
I have two items I will never forget when hunting: Rangefinder and a Grunt tube – The Rangefinder so I know precisely how far the animal is to ensure an ethical shot. And a grunt call gives me the ability to challenge or divert a buck’s attention – this has brought me the most success.
Crossbow
Vengent S440 – It’s the best combination of price-point, speed, and efficiency.
Arrow
EVO-X CenterPunch – It shoots great groups for the distances I’m typically shooting – 10-40-yards.
Scope
RangeMaster Pro – A quality optic that was included in the package.
Broadhead
Grim Reaper – It leaves a massive wound channel.
Hunting Method
Treestand or Ground Blind – I like to hunt from a treestand unless I hunt with my daughter, in which case I hunt from a ground blind.
Safety Harness
Muddy – I like it because it’s easy to use.
Rangefinder
Vortex Ranger 1000 – A high quality product at an affordable price point.
Binoculars
None
Boots
Muck Boots – They keep my feet dry and scent free on my walk in.
One item I can’t live without
My hunting partner! (My daughter) – Nothing has ever made me happier than how excited she gets when she gets to hunt with dad.
Crossbow
TenPoint Siege RS410 – I like the compactness of the short reverse-draw crossbows.
Arrow
EVO-X CenterPunch 16” Alpha-Blaze. The nock is bright, and the system is robust.
Scope
EVO-X Marksman Elite – It is clear and works well.
Broadhead
Iron Will V100 fixed blade broadhead – They are absurdly sharp and strong.
Hunting Method
It depends on where I am but usually from a saddle – Being mobile is a huge benefit.
Safety Harness
Aero Hunter Kestrel – The saddle is the harness!
Rangefinder
Bushnell BowHunter Rangefinder – My wife bought it for me several years ago.
Binoculars
Mavin B1.2 10×42 – Good glass is a must.
Boots
LaCrosse Alphaburly Pro or Kenetrek Slide Rock Hiker boots – It depends on how wet or cold it is.
One item I can’t live without
My mobile saddle setup and Out On A Limb Shikar sticks – I need to be able to move around.
Crossbow
TenPoint Turbo XLT II – Its narrow, has amazing performance, and an old-style camo pattern.
Arrow
EVO-X Center Punch or Pro Elite 400 – Both are fast and accurate, plus they also perform well with my crossbow.
Scope
RangeMaster Pro – The speed dial allows for even more accuracy, and it has an illuminated reticle for dawn and dusk.
Broadhead
Grim Reaper Razortip mechanical broadheads – They’ve always performed well for me and have a large 2” cut.
Hunting Method
Treestand, hang on, or elevated blind. Even though I have a fear of heights, I do enjoy and prefer the view from above!
Safety Harness
Hunter Safety System Harness – It’s comfortable and not bulky, plus it has good reviews and is fairly priced.
Rangefinder
Halo Rangefinder – It works well, is fairly priced, not too complicated, and compact.
Binoculars
Vortex – They are of great quality.
Boots
Muck Boots – They are comfortable, warm, and prevent my feet from getting wet. Although I do still own, and sometimes wear, my first pair of hunting boots that I purchased from Wal-Mart for $19.99 in 2012!
One item I can’t live without
A sling – It’s much easier to navigate through the woods with my crossbow hung over my shoulder rather than having to carry it.
