TenPoint Phantom misfired!
I cocked my Phantom and it seemed to be ready to fire.
Then after the mornings hunt, (lucky I did not fire at a buck) I attempted to unload my Phantom-CLS into my target pulled the trigger and nothing happened!
So I took of my arrow, used my ACUdraw 50 to pull up and re-cock my Phantom-CLS , then put in another arrow and shot it into the target!
Conclusion, it “is” possible to under cock the Phantom-CLS, Make sure you pull back hard and hear the loud click or it could under cock! And not shoot!!!

From what you describe, the bow did NOT misfire. It was simply cocked only past the DFI and not fully into the trigger box. I wanted to state that because misfiring usually means it fired without pulling the trigger or while a safety was engaged.
You are right though and lesson learned! Wouldn't that have been a major bummer if the buck of a lifetime walked out!

Agree with Brad. I have done the same thing while using my rope cocker.
Now if I am doing it in the dark I reach down and make sure the DFI is flopping up and down and not hard against the string holding it in place. If it is not flopping you need to pull the string back about a half inch more. Another "give away" is watching the DFI as you slip an arrow into place. If the little horns do not drop down, you have not fully cocked the crossbow.

when you cock your bow make sure the safety is in the fire position. If you try and cock the bow when it is in the safe position you will not be able to cock the bow all the way and when you try to fire it the string will hang up on the DFI.
When you cock the bow watch the safety and when it gores from the fire to the safe positions you are fully cocked and ready to go.
