| "My Halloween Deer Story"
It was Halloween day, and I went out into the woods around 3 PM, sat in an Oak Tree and watch wildlife all around me!
I sat in my three stand, a new location I found just a few days earlier, I placed the stand just across from a rub and scrape, and it was high in an oak tree. (Good Cover all around the tree) with only a 20 - 30 yard shot in either direction!
And just as it got dark, almost too dark to see ( with all the ghost and goblins all around the tree) with the trees blocking any light, I had a deer come out almost just under my tree, I heard his hoofs stepping on the leafs as he walked under the stand ( I was hoping that it was a deer and not any Halloween ghosts or goblins)
I look down and there he was, I seen that he had antlers, they were thick, but I could not count how many, so as he walked straight to the rub, he put his nose down in it, then walked over to the feeder, all in a madder of 3 minutes or less.
My first opportunity to shoot him failed, because I had my safety on, so I kept the scope on him then waited for him to turn sideways, I almost could not make him out, Just a dark silhouette, so I turned on my red dot (Pro40 Multi-Dot Scope) and positioned the dot just up over his belly and just at where his front legs meet his body, and I let one go, bam, he took off, I followed the sound of the brush, and heard him dropped just about 20 yards back into the thick woods.
Lucky for me he did not go far, because I forgot my flashlight and I was hunting very thick brush!
So I got down out of my tree stand in total darkness on this spooky Halloween night, and was hoping that the ghosts and goblins were not around as I felt around with a large branch looking for Mr. buck, and found him within 5 minutes of in total darkness.
I was Lucky there were no sneaks where I was walking, because I could not see where I was stepping! So finally I saw his white belly with just a little skylight to show it on this spooky Halloween night!
So I got my ATV and tied him to it, got him home, dressed him up and called a friend to come and get him, as she has asked me for some deer meat!
So I survived this Halloween night in the woods and came back with a Halloween treat!
